Timely Emergency Communications Taskforce

Dr. Sechrist has asked Dr. Marion Paden and me to co-chair a Timely Emergency Communications Taskforce to review the Campus Communication Plan and make recommendations for improvement. We would like to have two representatives from all of the geographic areas of the College on the taskforce. (Students will also be asked to serve on this taskforce.)

The taskforce will meet on Friday mornings, beginning March 26, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. until the end of the spring semester. If you have an interest in serving and are available on Friday mornings, please notify me at vgibson@occc.edu or ext. 7864, prior to Spring Break. When volunteering, please identify which of the following geographic areas of the College you would be representing from the following list:

  1. Main Building
  2. Social Sciences Center
  3. College Union (One from Carson's Catering and one from Student Life representing student groups)
  4. Health Professions Center
  5. Arts and Humanities Center
  6. Visual and Performing Arts Center
  7. Library
  8. Science, Engineering and Math Center
  9. Family and Community Education Center (one representative from CDC&LS and one from Community Education)
  10. John Massey Center
  11. Other (please specify area)

In the event that we have an abundance of volunteers, we may need to select the two representatives from each area so that we have a manageable size taskforce. However, everyone's comments are welcomed and encouraged. You may email your comments to myself or Marion or use the newly established address safetysuggestions@occc.edu. In addition, we will keep you informed as the membership of the taskforce is determined and you may use your area representatives to convey your comments as well.

David Payne visits OCCC

If you've lived in Oklahoma long, you're familiar with the "winds of change" regarding Oklahoma weather. If you're new to the state, stick around, as there can be seasonal temps in the 70's one minute and snow flurries the next.

NewsChannel 4's morning show meteorologist, David Payne, will be on campus Wednesday, March 10 at 11 a.m. to talk about severe weather in Oklahoma. Join us in the Main Dining area in the College Union and learn more about Oklahoma weather and how to stay safe in the event of a storm.

3rd Quarter Health and Safety Training

For the third quarter each employee of OCCC has to complete the Hazard Communications. The instructions on how to enroll in the online class are attached. This training is required for all employees and must be completed by the end of this quarter, March 31, 2010.
