Phylum Annelida
Annelids have a segmented body. The segmented body has great evolutionary potential. Individual segments can be modified for specialized tasks. This is well demonstrated in the Phylum Arthropoda that evolved from the annelids.
The earthworm to the right has a complete digestive system. The nerve cord is on the ventral (belly) side. How does that compare with our nervous system?
