Adaptations

Evolution works by modifying existing stuctures for a new or improved function. Natural selection will favor various adaptations that will be beneficial.

The katydid in the bottom picture has a modified body that looks like a leaf. Nature selects for this adaptation because it helps the katydid survive and therefor produce more offpsring to pass on the trait.
