Volume

The graduated cylinder is often used for measuring the volume of fluids.

Pour some water in a 100 mL graduated cylinder. Observe the meniscus which is the boundary between the air and the water. Because of water's cohesive and adhesive properties, the meniscus is not flat, but curved. It is important the read the bottom of the meniscus at eye level to insure an accurate measurement.

Measure the volume of the items listed in the table below.
