File Management

Create a folder called Biology (or some other name) to save all of the homework and/or lab report files you download. These files will all be in the rich text format. Complete these assignments and save them as rtf files. Do not use any spaces in the file name or any illegal characters such as [ ] : or { }. Check the file before you upload it to make sure it is the correct file in the rtf format. WebCT will not accept files that are not RTF or with illegal characters.

Rename your completed file before you upload it. For example, the file you download may have a name such as: starting_assignment.rtf. After you type in your answers (in a blue font) rename it something such as: starting_assignment_ complete.rtf. That way you will not confuse the files and submit the file with no answers. It is also a good idea to open a file before you send it to make sure it is the file you want to send.
Refer to the file management section of the College General Online orientation for more detail.

SAVE a file before you open it.

Be sure you SAVE a file before you open it. Don't open and then save. If you open first your word processor may add (1) to the file name. WebCT will not recognize the file when you try to upload it or it may not let me open it to grade.
