Courses Offered Online
BIO 1113 General Biology without lab
BIO 1114 General Biology with online lab.
BIO 2343 Genetics and Man
Instructor: Dennis Anderson 682-1611 ext 7271
Course Structure
Course content is delivered on a custom CD-ROM. It has my lectures
for General Biology in a multimedia format. It is the same information
I present in the traditional classroom.
Testing is online. Tests need to be taken within a three-day window
listed in the schedule for the class. They are open book, but timed.
You need to study the material as if you could not use your book
because there will not be enough time to look up every answer.
Labs are also online. Students lease a lab kit for $25 from the
Science Center and do the labs at home. I have a
website with directions for each lab. The main advantage to
an online class is the convenience. You can do the work when it
is convenient for you. However, it does not mean you can go for
weeks without doing anything. Weekly participation is required
and there are deadlines for assignments. Online courses are
not a good option for people who have trouble making deadlines or
who procrastinate.
Academic Honesty
Each student must do their own work. All written assignments must
be in the students own words. Do not collaborate with anyone during
the tests.
Required Course Materials

in Biology will have a discussion topic. You will receive participation
points for posting meaningful responses to the discussion topic.
No points will be given for late postsings. Total

Tests make up most of your grade. There are 5 online, open book
tests.
Labs are required for BIO 1114. There are 12 online labs. Some
experiments require supplies in the lab kit. Ignore everything about
lab kits if you are in BIO 1113.
