Angiosperms

Angiosperms are the flowering plants. They are the most advanced and successful group of plants. They evolved during the Cretaceous Period of the Mesozoic Era.

Angiosperms have vascular tissue and produce pollen with non-motile sperm. They do not require water for fertilization.

Angiosperm means "seed container". Their seeds are protected as they develop within the ovary. The ovary of angiosperms develops into a fruit.
