Seedless Vascular Plants
Ferns have evolved vascular tissue that enables them to grow larger than the bryophytes. However they are still restricted to moist habitats because they require water for fertilization. Sperm must have water so they can swim to an egg to fertilize it.

At maturity, fern leaves (fronds) develop spore producing structures on their undersurface called sori. Sorus is the singular form.
