In the early 1950's there were a group of scientists trying to determine the structure of DNA. At that time no one knew. Linus Pauling, who was a Nobel Prize winner, hypothesized that DNA is made of three strands. Watson and Crick hypothesized that DNA is made of two strands.

We now know DNA is composed of two strands. Why was the Paulings hypothesis rejected?
