My father was born in Healdton, Oklahoma and followed the oil fields for much of his young life. Upon graduation from high school, he joined the United States Navy SeaBees. Trained at Camp Peary, Virginia, he soon shipped off to the island of Manicani, Samar, Phillipines during World War II.
On his return, he met my mother in Olustee, Oklahoma. Soon Hattie “Lois” Akers and James Donald Myers were wed.
Before many years went by, my father was employed by Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas where he stayed for 15 years. From there he travelled to Oklahoma City where he was employed by the Fife Corporation for 24 years prior to his retirement.
I gave my earthly father back to my Heavenly Father on January 29, 2001.
I thank God every day on how lucky I was to have such a great father and mother. I will miss him until the 12th of Never.
