OCCC graphic communications major Amanda Lane received praise from people in her profession during a recent advertising competition.
The ADDY Award competition is the largest of its kind for advertising and promotional materials, according to www.aaf.org, the website for the American Advertising Federation.
Lane won two ADDY awards for work she submitted to the competition.
She was notified she was an award recipient about two weeks before the award ceremony.
“I was surprised to find out that I had won,” Lane said.
Awards were given out at the 41st Annual Oklahoma City ADDY Award ceremony in February.
ADDY awards were given out in several categories. Lane submitted her work to the competition after being encouraged to do so by Steve Pursley, her Photoshop II professor.
Lane won a gold ADDY for a magazine cover she submitted in the Editorial Design category.
She won a silver ADDY for an Arts Festival Oklahoma poster she entered in the Promotional Collateral Material category.
“I am proud of the work I did and I am very happy to know that [my work is] good enough to receive recognition by the professional community,” Lane said.
Lane will transfer to the University of Central Oklahoma where she will finish her bachelors degree in Graphic Design.
