Visual Arts program opens doors for transition

The OCCC Visual Arts program provides opportunities to transition to careers and four-year universities for future artists.
Painting, mosaics, graphic design and animation are among its offerings to students. By offering courses comparable to surrounding schools, many students leave college and find jobs or transfer to four-year universities, said professor Mary Ann Moore.
Computer-Aided Technology focuses on new academic program

Computer Aided Technology has been focusing a great deal on a new program, Game Design Emphasis said Vicki Gibson, Dean of the Information Technology Division. This program started in fall 2007.
Game Design Emphasis currently has 13 declared majors not including the students taking the course toward the certificate, said Akram Taghavi-Burris, a professor specialized in Game Design Emphasis.
Transportation Department offering several different programs

For students who want to work with automobiles, the Transportation Technology department provides a variety of training and skills.
Professor Rich Steere, acting chairman for the department, and professor Jason Ferguson, have extensive knowledge in the field of automotives and are both certified by General Motors.
