COURSE DESCRIPTION: Introduction to business provides and overview
of all
functional areas of business. The course dovetails the impact of
business activities on the
American economical, political, social, cultural and ethical environment.
It ultimately
blends the success of the American business to our understanding
of the global
environment and our ability to deal with the many intervening variables
that dictates one's
competitive advantage to sustain one's market position.
ASSIGNMENT:
To complete Bus 1013, Introduction to American Business, you are required to:
1. Read chapters and watch television broadcast prior to review.
2. Students must attend review sessions. If you fail to attend
review session
an audio tape of the review will be available
in the library, students must
listen to the tape within 7 days from review. Failure
to do so students will
be dropped from the course.
3. Successfully complete three examinations. Exams will be
placed in the
testing center after the review session. Students have 7days
from the
review date to complete the test.
4. PLEASE USE YOUR TELECOURSE GUIDE FOR IT'S STRICTLY BUSINESS WHILE
WATCHING THE COX OR OETA BROADCAST. Answer all the questions under
"Video Focus Points" and turn in your assignments during the review sessions.
For example when you come for the first review you must have done all questions
for chapters 1 through 5 & chapter 16.

ATTENDANCE POLICY:
AT Oklahoma City Community College a student may be dropped (administratively
withdrawn) from class if that student has excessive absences that, in the
judgment of the faculty, would preclude the successful completion of course
objectives.
It is mandatory for students to complete all examination within the given time frame. (If you fail to meet this requirement and fail to officially withdraw from the class will be given a grade of "F".)
While I may elect to withdraw a student due to absences, it is your responsibility to officially withdraw if you cease to attend review session. Any student who does not successfully complete the course objectives and who has not officially withdrawn from class will be given a grade of "F".
EXAMINATION AND GRADING:
A letter grade will be assigned according to the following scale:
A = 90 - 100%
B = 80 - 89.99%
C = 70 - 79.99%
D = 60 - 69.99%
F = 0 - 59.99%
The examinations are administered in class on the scheduled day.
There will be no retakes of any examination. Each exam will carry 100 points
for a total of 300 points. Additional 100 points will be used for homework.
Exams plus homework will give a total of 400 points. To earn an “A” grade
students must have at least 360 points.
